Learning Snacks

Today while I was browsing some articles I ran into a new –at least for me- section in Microsoft learning website called “Learning Snacks”.

Learning Snacks is :

Learning Snacks are short, interactive presentations about popular topics created by Microsoft Learning experts. Each Snack is delivered by using innovative Microsoft Silverlight technology and includes various media, such as animations and recorded demos. At the end of each free presentation, you can view more Snacks, learn more about the topic, or visit a related Web site.

Its a very nice start to collect a very focused and general information about recent Microsoft technologies form team members and Microsoft Insiders. As the name tells “Snacks” don’t expect deep and detailed information… you need to use other resources if you are looking for surfeit meal e.g MSDN.

Until now there is six categories for presentations:

  • Core Infrastructure Optimization

  • Microsoft Silverlight

  • Virtualization

  • Web 2.0 Development

  • Windows 7

  • Windows Server 2008

  • Windows Vista

  • You can view those presentation and all what do you need is a Silverlight enabled browser –my Firefox does not work for some reason I could figure it out- and enable pop-ups.

What do you waiting for now… start eating your snakes!!

Session: “Introduction to .NET & ASP.NET” (AlQuds University)

We arranged with AlQuds computer science department and the Said Khoury IT Center of Excellence(SKITCE) at Al-Quds University to hold a “Introduction to .NET & ASP.NET” session.

More than 70 students registered and more than 50 student attended. A general overview about the .NET framework and its technologies, the compilation model, introducing Microsoft new language C#, and building a sample web application using ASP.NET web technology .. all these topics was part of the session. But we didn't end the session as proposed because it troubled in some way and we did not finished as proposed regarding some problem in the arrangements. Anyway we have lesson learned and this is a good thing.

The real chance was meeting those excited students and have talk with them. It was a great thing to see this much of interest of .NET technologies.

I am sure we will have a more successful activity in SKITCE very near. And I will attach the presentation slide ASAP.

Thanks for every one who made this humble activity exist.

ASP.NET MVC 1.0 has been released

Hello The Gu -Scott Guthrie- has announced the ASP.NET MVC 1.0. You can read the full post here. The amazing thing that ASP.NET MVC is an open source project and the code released under MS-PL licenses.

And they say Microsoft does not support open source. They published  the source code of the .NET framework itself last year -but it was a closed source- and they now releasing open source projects. Who knows what future is hiding for us.

    Congratulation Microsoft!
