1st, November, 2009 was the start day. We were under the lights with Microsoft team. We started our Program at Palestine Polytechnic University (PPU) in Hebron city, Microsoft team, including Naseem Tuffaha and Goksin baker were in the way from Jordan to Palestine, the
sad part of the story that Mr. Goksin is returned by the Israeli to Jordan, and they didn't allow him to enter Palestine. So he lost what he wish to do, he was waiting this historical moment for many years. So our hero is not allowed to enter the borders. We continue our program by shifting the order of the sessions. After the speech of the president of PPU, I started my speech about PALDEV. It was general overview of PALDEV. Nassem arrived to the hall; it was full of students, a round 250 participants from different Universities. Our program continues, and Mr. Goksin was with us from Amman, Jordan using the LiveMeeting. And finally we give some gifts from Microsoft, one girl won a laptop, and we were happy with this result. we can say that the start was a great not because the event including the official launch of Windows 7 and Official launch of Image Cup competition in Palestine. But also because of the interaction of the students. We left Hebron to Ramallah after we took a lot of photos with the participants.

For the first time in Palestine, Microsoft will arrange Microsoft Science days. We will be in 1st , November 2009 in Polytechnic Palestine University (PPU), Paldev Team and Microsoft Team will present at this big event. Microsoft Officially will launch Windows 7 in Palestine. also the event will includes the official launch of Imagine cup competition in Palestine. Paldev will give three session about Windows 7, VS2008/VS2010, SharePoint server 2007 and windows Server 2008 R2. This event will replicated , the second day will be in Ramallah, Grand Park Hotel at 2nd, November 2009, and the third day will be in Nabuls, Najah University at 3rd , November, 2009. We hope to enjoy with us. These activities are a part of Expo – Tech 2009.

We closed paldev last event, Wednesday 29, July 2009, it was the first event in Hebron City, It came as a result of the Cooperation with the Friends of Fawzi Kawash IT Center Of Excellence (FFKITCE), in the Palestine Polytechnic University (PPU). Which they hosted the event. Yah it was successful one and I feel happy not because of the flooding of the registration, also because of the reaction of the participants. we decides to take 30 participants because of the lab limitation , but we get 50 participants and we faced the fact that we can't say no to our new students members. So 50 participants shared 30 Computers. And they get 4.5 hours of hands on labs for two days. The workshop was about "Windows server 2008: Active Directory Configuration". I can say as the person who gave the sessions, that they where amazing participants. You can see the faces in the photos… !
I would like to inform you that I will write series of Technical articles under the name Q&A about Windows Server 2008, and it will be a step by step with screen shots. these articles aimed to provide you with the practical steps for the needed configuration to build a network Using Windows Server 2008. I will use the scenario based learning during my articles. so welcome every body to learn and enjoy for free.

Do you want to move to Virtualization? Ok … if you want to do that, in addition to have a good back ground about the virtualization, the concept, types and benefits; you have to know the architect for Virtualization and the strategy for the move to virtualization.
"Over the last ten years, Resolutions Enterprises and (Ruest, 2009) have developed a strategy for the move to virtualization. This strategy has been tested through a multitude of delivery projects,
According to Resolutions, the move to virtualization relies on five key steps:
1. Discovery:
The first step begins with datacenter inventories and the identification of potential virtualization candidates.
2. Virtualization:
The second step focuses on gaining a complete understanding of the value choices that virtualization can offer.
3. Hardware maximization:
The third step focuses on hardware recovery and how you can make judicial investments when adding new hardware or replacing older systems.
4. Architecture:
The fourth step looks to the architecture you must prepare to properly introduce virtualization technologies into your datacenter practices.
5. Management:
The last step focuses on the update of the management tools you use to maintain complete virtualization scenarios in your new dynamic datacenter."
Hyper-v is the Virtualization tool in Windows Server 2008, I recommended you to start to know and to use this new technology from Microsoft. Well for you .. You are welcome , you can attend the upcoming event for PALDEV , which titled " Windows 2008 Hyper-V Deployment and Best Practices " for more details about this event you can go to paldev site . Don’t loose this golden opportunity.

Virtualization:
Virtualization is a hot topic now a day, so what we mean by it? Did you hear a bout Hyper-v?!!! …. Ok it is a new and came with Windows Server 2008; I will try to put the light over those two new concepts.
Virtualization is a method for abstracting physical resources from the way they interact with other resources. For example, if you abstract the physical hardware from the operating system, you get the benefit of being able to move the operating system between different physical systems. This is called server virtualization. But there are also other forms of virtualization available, such as presentation virtualization, desktop virtualization, and application virtualization. [1]
There are four deferent types of virtualization:
1- Server virtualization:
This basically enables multiple servers to run on the same physical server. Hyper-V is a server virtualization tool that allows you to move physical machines to virtual machines and manage them on a few physical servers. Thus, you will be able to consolidate physical servers.
2- Presentation virtualization :
When you use presentation virtualization, your applications run on a different computer and only the screen information is transferred to your computer. An example for presentation virtualization is Microsoft Terminal Services in Windows Server 2008.
3- Desktop virtualization :
This provides you with a virtual machine on your desktop, comparable to server virtualization. You run your complete operating system and applications in a virtual machine, so your local physical machine just needs to run a very basic operating system. An example for this form of virtualization is Microsoft Virtual PC.
4- Application virtualization :
Application virtualization helps to prevent conflicts between applications on the same PC. Thus it helps you to isolate the application running environment from the operating system installation requirements by creating application-specific copies of all shared resources and helps reduce application-to-application incompatibility and testing needs. An example of an application virtualization tool is Microsoft SoftGrid Application Virtualization.[1]
Hyper-V:
Hyper-V is a new server role in Windows Server 2008 that allows you to virtualized your environment and therefore run multiple virtual operating system instances on a physical server simultaneously. This not only helps you to improve server utilization, it helps you to create a more cost effective and dynamic system.[1]
You can see more details in this reference book:
[1] Stidley, 2008, MCTS: Windows server 2008 applications infrastructure configuration study guide (Exam 70-643) /Joel Stidley.—1st ed.
Did you decide to upgrade to windows Server 2008? What is the new and the great things in Windows Sever 2008?
Windows Server 2008 includes the following five great things :
1. Virtualization
2. Core Server Installs
3. Read Only Domain Controllers
4. PowerShell
5. TS RemoteApp
Do you want to know what we mean by Virtualization? do you want to know what is Hyper-V technology?
If you want to know, wait my second post !!! ….. You will get the answer.

Today, Monday May 25th , we reached the end of the first event for PALDEV Community as a part of different events that will organized under PALDEV Community nights 2009. the event title was “ Windows server 2008- Active directory Training” , and hosted by Al-Quds Open University- Bethlehem Educational region, 30 IT students were participate at this event, they get the chance to learn and practice using Windows Server 2008. we give them the chance to build and configure the servers by their hands using hands on labs. 5 continues hours daily , Yah it was heavy but no one even ask for break. The first meeting for Paldev was held in Bethlehem University, we succeed to make our first event. It was titled " Introduction to .NET Platform" , II will summarize all about this meeting in the following:
Title: Introduction to .NET Platform
Date: Wednesday, April 26, 2006
Time: Reception 4 PM, Program 4:15 -6:15
Location: Institute of Community Partnership (ICP) / Bethlehem University
Participants: 30 (12 male, 18 female)
The event includes two sessions, and it was as the following
The First Session: It was given By Jihad Hammad , he gave the participants review about the PALDEV , Goals mission, benefits for members, future plan, and activities.
The second session: It was given by Ahmad Assaf , and it includes :
What is the .Net Platform?
.Net Platform Components
.Net Platform benefits for developers.
What is .Net framework?
How the .Net framework works?
The concepts those are fundamental to the .Net Platform.
Event Photos:

Gain: an increase in a RF
signal's amplitude.
Examples are an antenna or amplifier. Gain is
measured in dB.
Loss: a decrease in a RF signal's amplitude.
This can be uncontrollable such as due to the resistance of cables or
connectors because or conversion of AC electrical signal to heat or
intentional, through an attenuator. Loss is measured in dB.
Reflection: when a RF wave
strikes a large object.
Examples are the surface of
the earth, buildings, or walls.
Refraction: bending of RF wave as it passes through something of different density.
An example is a RF wave passing
through fog. This is a serious issue for long-distance RF links.
Diffraction: when a RF wave bends as it passes around a large object.
Do not confuse this with
refraction "density vs. object". Think about ripples of waves across
a pond that go around a boat or stump in the pond.

We care so much about the wireless network for the following reasons :
- The simple answer is that people move and wire network don't. But wireless network can move with people.
- The expectations have changed.
- Today life is faster paced
- There are so many portable devices today.
